Instagram has introduced a new Repost feature and it's set to change the way brands share and amplify content.
This update lets users re-share public posts and Reels directly to their feed, with proper credit and the option to add a caption. No more screenshots, workarounds, or disappearing Stories. For business accounts, this small update has big implications.
Where before re-sharing meant jumping through hoops, brands can now curate content natively and cleanly. Customer reviews, user-generated content (UGC), influencer collaborations, or even timely industry posts can now be shared with ease, allowing your brand to stay engaged and visible without constantly creating from scratch.
What makes it different?
Reposts don’t just appear in your feed, they live in a dedicated Reposts tab on your profile, keeping your main grid focused and on-brand. They still show up in your followers’ feeds, so your visibility remains intact while your profile stays polished.
This gives businesses new flexibility in their content publishing strategy, especially during quieter periods when fresh content might be limited. It’s also a great way to build trust by amplifying your community and showing appreciation for the people who interact with your brand.
Why does this new feature matter for your content strategy?
Used wisely, reposts offer a powerful way to boost engagement by sharing relevant content from others, re-inforce brand values through created content, strengthen community by spotlighting real voices and save time and resources without sacrificing visibility.
But there’s a balance. Overdoing it can make your feed feel less original and dilute your brand voice. That’s why every repost should be intentional, only sharing content that aligns with your messaging, adds value, or deepens connection with your audience.
But how does it shift how brands show up online?
Instagram’s update reflects a broader shift - less pressure to constantly create, more encouragement to create and collaborate. For business accounts, this is a welcome change. It’s no longer just about having something to say, it’s about choosing what to amplify.
At Serotonin, we believe smart strategy beats constant output. The Repost feature fits right into that mindset , a subtle but powerful tool that, when used right, can elevate your content without overwhelming your workflow.
