We’ve checked the crystal ball, DM’d Nostradamus, and come up with our predictions for social media in 2026 (sadly, no sign of planking making a comeback).
Come with us as we take you through some of the big changes that we think will shake up the wild world of socials and share handy tips along the way.
In 2026, capturing people’s attention who are stuck in the endless scrolling zone will be harder than ever. With more of us using platforms like Instagram and TikTok, the amount of content flooding the social media stratosphere is only rising.
Brands will need to figure out new ways to truly stand out and resist the temptation to post more. Instead, the focus should be on creating high-quality content and coming up with unique scroll-stopping ideas .
Top tip: Tell micro-stories with a narrative. Start with a problem, then solution, and finish with the result. But make sure they’re no longer than 15 seconds long.
Step aside Google, there’s a new search engine in town. The WARC (World Advertising Research Centre) found that 64% of Gen Z use TikTok as a search engine. That’s a big deal for brands in 2026. If you’re not showing up when users search things like ‘best running shoes’ or ‘how to fix a Labubu’ you risk becoming invisible during key decision-making moments. So it’s time to start mastering social search because next year it’ll just be as important as Google SEO (in our humble opinion).
Top tip: Create content that answers specific questions directly, and sprinkle relevant keywords into your captions, on-screen text, and subtitles.
Insta Reels, Tiktok, and YouTube Shorts will continue to dominate. But would you believe it? Long-form storytelling is returning. Turns out audiences are using Shorts to test the waters and discover new creators, before diving deeper and into longer videos. For brands in 2026, your best bet is to have a mix of both short and long-form content.
Top tips: 1. Use short videos as trailers for longer content. 2. Why not repurpose your 10-minute video? Then split it into five Shorts, three Reels, and a LinkedIn post. 3. Experiment with mini-docs, podcasts, or explainer videos.
